Pilanesberg Platinum Mine (PPM) considers itself an Equal Opportunity Employer and we subscribe to the employment equity principles as envisaged in the Employment Equity Act No. 55 of 1998 as amended. This means we aim to eliminate all forms of unfair discrimination in the recruitment and selection of staff.
We currently employ more than 62% local community personnel and more than 23% of our workforce is women. PPM is committed to adding value to the livelihoods of local community members through various skills development programmes for future employment opportunities.
PPM champions fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory recruitment, and selection practices. Our overarching policy aims to ensure that recruitment and selection processes comply with fair labour practices consistent with the relevant legislative requirements. These requirements are contained mainly in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, the Labour Relations Act, 66 of 1995, the Employment Equity Act, 55 of 1998, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, 75 of 1997, and the Mining Charter.
PPM does not permit any form of unfair discrimination (including nepotism and any form of harassment) whether direct or indirect in the recruitment, selection, transfer or promotion of existing employees or applicants, for any job especially on any one or a combination of the unfair discrimination grounds, as may be prohibited by applicable regulatory requirements. PPM may advance the appointment, or promotion of suitable candidates from the designated groups as described in the Employment Equity Act and in line with its Employment Equity Policy and Plan.
